  • Summer’s Interior Design Trends – Give A Fresh Look to Your Rooms this Summer

As an aesthete (people who love aesthetics), I make it a habit to look through decor trends. Interior design trends 2024, being my current obsession.

However, it is easy to feel overwhelmed!

How can I always add that fresh trendy look to my rooms without drilling a hole through my pockets?

I have a friend who curates her rooms according to what was seasonal. No, she wasn’t looking through design trends and repainting her house every season (… almost four times a year). But she had a flair for tweaking items to bring some trendy seasonal elements to the room.

So, taking some pages from her interior decoration books, I have curated a list of hacks  that can give your rooms the interior design trends of 2024 look!

Bringing Interior Design Trends of 2024 (...Within Budget)

We are all for realistic consumerism. Over-consumerism is already becoming an epidemic in the social media, and FOMO market!

So, our goal for this interior design article is to bring aesthetical pleasure with the help of a budget-friendly approach.

So, without any further ado, let’s get into the different design trends 24!

 1. A Permanent Home Office

A Permanent Home Office
Main ElementsFunctionality in furniture, Ergonomic & Comfortable sitting, and efficient storage solution.
Primary Color SchemeBeige, Warn Neutrals, Gray Tones
Secondary Color SchemePops of cool tones (Blue and green), all white or all greys.
Room PersonalityThe room’s personality is productive, minimal, and neatly organized. An overall environment which should encourage you to work.

Since the pandemic, having a permanent home office is becoming more and more common. Some even utilize barely used rooms like guest rooms, or laundry rooms to build a productive space.

A home office can also positively affect your productivity. Since it will give you an illusion of an organized space meant for working.

A Few things to remember:

  • Have natural lighting to enhance productivity.
  • Do not use warm lights like yellow, orange, or champagne because they induce sleep. Try to go for cool tone lighting.
  • Try to keep your desk away from your bed. A direct view from the bed can make you procrastinate more! It should all be out of sight, and out of mind!

2. Chunky Accents & Sprinkle of Vibrant Colors

Main ElementsBold furniture pieces, oversized decor items, colorful accessories.
Primary Color SchemeBright colors (red, orange, yellow)

Some common trendy interior design aesthetics which can match this theme are:

The bold colors, and chunky textured furniture. Sprinkles of fluorescent is also common for this style.

Some of the common decor items are long black velvet settees, shelves of vinyl records and CDs, and the famous lava lamps.

Scandinavian Decor

Bold solid colors matched with complimentary patterns. This is the easiest way to achieve the chunky accent home decor look.

There are also some industrial elements , but only in a semi-disorganized manner. More emphasis on object shapes, and textures. The common type of wall hanging is modern abstract art.

This is a summer interior design trend which originated in the USA. This consists of the different art-deco materials of the dry dessert in the Southwestern USA.

Therefore, traditional native American patterns will be a must.

Cottagecore

This falls more into the neutral chunky accents. However, it’s a perfect combination for someone who is also a fan of vintage decor and is not a big fan of vibrant colors (like that of the 80s decor).

The common decor elements which can help you turn any room into a cottage core delight are, earthy tones, wicker furniture, an explosion of plants and other natural elements, and curvy edged wood furniture.

If you want to take this up a notch, you can always thrift some copper flower vases & utensils, and candlesticks!

Summer Design Tren

A Final Note!

This curated list of summer interior design trends is the perfect place to begin your home decor project. Hopefully, by the end of it, your room will look as fresh as summer fields!

Summer-scented candles like coconut, lilac, and lavender are easy to get that fist of summer energy in your room.

Candles are also good for enjoying the cozy room or bathroom decor trend. (Just be careful about any potential fire hazard).

Here are some last-minute tips to save on home decor:

  • Take one room at a time. If this is your new house, you do not need to “finish” decoration in a month. Budget it well and continue your renovation project for at least six to eight months.
  • Recycle items rather than buy new ones. For example, a glass bottle can help create a cozy shelf fixture if you add fair light. An empty glass candle can be added to storage, which doesn’t mess up the aesthetic.
  • The allure of Ikea. Yes, we know the assembly part could be tedious. However, the budget-friendly option is excellent for getting new furniture.
  • Thrifting is the new trend. From designer clothes to furniture, people are thrifting everything. Plus, you can make the most out of it! Finding good vintage home decor items in your thrifting tips is an adventure.
  • Finally, wallpaper and spray paint will be your best friends! Do not worry; if you do it right, it won’t look cheap. This is also a good way to add freshness to old home decor.
