These four primary compounds help the cement dry faster. Brownmillerite and Tricalcium aluminate are responsible for the liquidating part of the cement.  

Alite and Belite are the mechanical parts of the cement that keep the hard layer on the surface.

Substances like oil, dirt, or loose dust particles can harm the surface. Thus, you must keep the surface before you start applying the cement. 

  • The temperature of the construction area is very important. After applying the cement, it should remain between 45°F (7°C) and 90°F (32°C). The small and deep holes have the same protocols. 
  • The mechanical mixture machine is the best option for making a smooth cement paste. 

Step 1 

  • Firstly, read the instructions behind the packaging. You will find the proper blending ratio. Take the water as the cement package shows, then mix the duct cement in the water to make a smooth paste. 
  • Secondly, Do not apply water after applying hydraulic cement. It will make the bond more fragile. 

Step 2 

  • Do not hesitate to take time. The time and the perfect ratio of the water and the cement make the cement solution more easily settable in the desired place.  
  • Secondly, you need to apply the cement from top to bottom.  

The cement paste will slide down from the top to the bottom of the hole or crack. Thus, you must keep filling the gap to load the crack.  

Step 3 

  • Apply the same amount of pressure when you are applying the product. This will help to fill the gap.  
  • You would only need water and cement to make the paste. So, I would recommend you not to use any other hardening substances.

  • This is a cost-effective solution for construction. 
  • Easy applicable. 
  • The vertical application makes the cement more user-friendly. 
  • The structure’s strength is quite maintainable even when submerged in the water. 
  • Hydraulic cement can repair water leakage. 
  • It only takes a few hours to dry the cement.  

The Cons

  • The drawbacks are hiding behind the benefits of the products. As the cement takes very little time to get hard, the hydraulic cement only takes 10 to 15 minutes to stay in the workable state after making the cement paste.
  • The cold temperature is another enemy of the product. It will not work on the frozen surface and not in the workable state below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hydraulic cement is less corrosive. However, it would help if you took some precautions when using it.  

Inhaling the cement dust and direct eye contact with the products can cause severe health damage, so be conscious when using it. Wearing eye gear, masks, and gloves can save your health.
