Wesley Financial Group LLC recently sued Westgate Resorts, one of the largest privately held vacation ownership companies in the United States. Westgate is also a subsidiary of Central Florida Investments Inc.
Wesley Financial Group helps timeshare owners undo their contracts. The company accused Westgate of scheming against competitors to eliminate them for cancellation services. Wesley Financial Group filed the lawsuit against Westgate at the Orlando federal court. The company also claimed that Westgate violated federal advertising law and antitrust law.
As per reports from Reuters.com,
“The lawsuit escalates a long-running clash between the two companies in an industry valued at $10.5 billion by industry trade group the American Resort Development Association. Timeshare properties allow more than one person to share ownership or usage rights for a property, often vacation homes such as beach or ski condos.”
Wesley Financial Group LLC, which is based in Tennessee, markets its services as one of the largest timeshare ‘exit’ firms in the United States. The company claims that it provides services to create pathways to escape Timeshare’s ownership.
A representative from Westgate stated that the vacation ownership company wants to defend itself vigorously against the lawsuit from Wesley Financial Group.
On the other hand, Wesley complained that Westgate made false and misleading claims with its program. Furthermore, they also accused Westgate of having taken steps to reduce their competition in the market.
Wesley Financial Group also accused Westgate of having devised “formal and informal” policies. These policies were created, as per Wesley’s claims, to limit the number of owners who rely on third-party companies to exit timeshares.
Furthermore, Wesley Financial also claimed that Westgate and other real estate developers have schemed with the American Development Association. Their scheme was to create “coordinated advertising” against companies like Wesley Financial Group.
